The Honorable Minister of State, Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Hajiya Ramatu Tijani Aliyu has distributed some palliatives to the Widows of Guards Brigades Garrison, Mambilla Barracks, Abuja.
This gesture by the honourable minister was to cushion the effect of the ravaging novel Covid-19 posed to the community as a result of the stay at home regime installed by Nigerian government to contain and curtail the spread of the virus in the country.
During her remarks, the minister emphasised that the palliative was meant for the widows in
the barracks who were facing and struggling with the devastating effect of the lockdown policy induced by the pandemic plaguing the world ,Nigeria inclusive .
She used the medium to extol the huge tireless efforts and sacrifices officers and men of the Nigerian Armed Forces have been rendering for peace and security in Nigeria.
This she said informed the decision to extend the gesture to the barracks community.
While receiving the items on behalf of the Brigade, the Chief of Staff, Colonel Kasim Sidi who represented the Brigade Commander profoundly thanked the Minister for making it possible for the barracks community to benefit from the palliative. This he said will be utilized judiciously in supporting the widows in the barracks.
Some of the items received included 400 cartoons of indomie, 400 packs of water, 200 packs of mineral drinks, 400 packs of gala snacks and 400 bags of 5kg rice.
