The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has promoted four senior officers to the rank of Air Commodore in recognition of their exceptional dedication and loyalty.
The ceremony, held on July 8, 2024, at the NAF Headquarters, saw the officers decorated with their new ranks by the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar.
Director of Public Relations and Information NAF, Air Vice Marshal Edward Gabkwet in a statement, Tuesday, disclosed that the promoted officers, who will retire from the NAF forthwith, were praised for their significant contributions to the Service and the nation. Air Commodore John Azubuike Opara was recognized for his outstanding performance as an administration officer, while Air Commodores Okechukwu Godson Okoye, David Ajar Ahmadu, and Tahir Bin-Isah were honoured for their roles as NAF Chaplains and Imam, fostering unity and spiritual well-being within the Service.
During the decoration, the CAS commended the officers for their dedication, noting that their legacies will endure and their contributions will continue to resonate within the NAF family.
“The lives you have touched and the positive impacts you have made will continue to resonate within our Air Force family,” he averred.
Air Marshal Abubakar also urged them to remember that their sacrifices have been recognized and their contributions deeply cherished, even as they transition into retirement.
Earlier in his welcome address, the Chief of Administration (COA), Air Vice Marshal Idi Sani noted that the 4 officers have undergone thorough and rigorous scrutiny and have been found worthy both in character and professionalism to have been promoted by the Air Force Council to substantive Air Commodores.
