In a landmark move to enhance crisis communication and civil-military relations, the Defence Headquarters (DHQ) and the Centre for Crisis Communication (CCC) have forged a strategic partnership.
Enugu Reporters reports that this collaboration aims to bolster effective crisis management and strengthen public trust.
The partnership was solidified during a courtesy visit by the CCC management, led by Major General Chris Olukolade (rtd), to the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Musa, at Defence Headquarters in Abuja.
General Musa expressed his deep appreciation for the media and CCC’s invaluable contributions to crisis communication and public relations support for security agencies. He acknowledged the Nigerian media’s steadfast partnership in keeping the public informed about their operations, boosting morale and raising awareness about the importance of their mission.
The CDS also recognized the potential of CCC’s initiatives to enhance military communication strategies and improve public perception. He assured the delegation of Defence Headquarters’ commitment to exploring these initiatives to ensure responsible handling of sensitive and public information.
Major General Olukolade (rtd) commended the CDS for championing interagency collaboration, which has been a game-changer in enhancing counterinsurgency operations. He outlined key initiatives to enhance collaboration between CCC and the military, security, and intelligence communities, including capacity-building programmes, research, and crisis management services.
Both parties reaffirmed their commitment to open communication and innovative approaches to address evolving security challenges. This partnership strengthens civilian-military relations, demonstrating the essential synergy required to achieve comprehensive national security objectives.
