In a bold and decisive move, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has successfully destroyed a key terrorist logistics base in Yadi Forest, Giwa Local Government Area of Kaduna State, as part of its ongoing Operation WHIRL PUNCH (OPWP).
Group Captain Kabiru Ali, Deputy Director of Public Relations and Information, NAF, on sunday revealed that this operation, executed on September 27, 2024, was made possible by credible intelligence reports indicating a significant presence of terrorists and their weapons in the area.
The NAF’s Air Component dispatched an aircraft, supported by an Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) platform, to attack the target after intensive intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance confirmed the consistent presence of terrorists and their motorcycles at the location.
He said the logistics base was linked to notorious terrorist kingpin Kadade Gurgu, a close ally of Dogo Gide, who had been providing shelter to other terrorist kingpins fleeing military operations in Sokoto and Zamfara States.
Although the target area initially appeared uninhabited, terrorists were seen emerging from the shrubbery and fleeing as the aircraft approached.
The NAF successfully engaged the target, recording direct hits on the logistics facility, which was engulfed in flames with thick black smoke visible.
Independent sources, including local informants, confirmed the total destruction of the logistics base and the killing of scores of terrorists.
He reiterated the Nigerian Air Force’s commitment in collaborating with ground forcesto dominate the battlespace through extensive situational awareness, constant patrols, and targeted interdiction of bandits’ safe havens within its area of responsibility and neighboring states.

By dealing a significant blow to terrorist operations, the NAF has demonstrated its unwavering resolve to protect Nigeria’s citizens and territorial integrity.
