The Nigerian Air Force (NAF), Saturday conducted its Fourth Quarter 2024 Route March exercise, across all NAF formations in the country.
According to the Director of Public Relations and Information, NAF, Air Commodore Olusola Akinboyewa said the nationwide event showcased personnel from various units engaging in a coordinated display of physical fitness, mental resilience, and unity, reinforcing the NAF’s operational readiness.
During the exercise in Abuja, the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, emphasized the importance of physical and mental preparedness for all personnel, given Nigeria’s dynamic security challenges.
He reaffirmed the NAF’s commitment to rigorous training, aligning with his Command Philosophy of “Deliberate Training and Mission-oriented Force Development.”
He highlighted NAF plans to upgrade sporting facilities, including a state-of-the-art gym at the NAF Special Operations Command and refurbishing existing gyms. Air Marshal Abubakar encouraged weekly sporting activities to foster fitness, teamwork, and talent discovery, with youth competitions forthcoming to engage young people and uncover hidden talents.
The event honoured the NAF male volleyball team for topping the National Division 1 Volleyball League and promoting to the Premier League.
According to the statement, a somber tone accompanied the event as the CAS led a minute of silence for 5 NAF personnel who lost their lives in a tragic accident en route to the African Military Games 2024 in Abuja.
The CAS assured that the NAF would remember the fallen heroes and support their families.
The exercise demonstrated the NAF’s commitment to operational readiness, personnel development, and honoring its personnel’s sacrifices.
