6 Brigade NA revs up safety, operational readiness with driver’s retraining course

The 6 Brigade Nigerian Army (NA) has launched a comprehensive driver retraining Course to enhance safety and operational readiness among military drivers.

Captain Olubodunde Oni, Acting Assistant Director 6 Brigade Army Public Relations, in a statement said the initiative aims to improve discipline, reduce road incidents, and promote a culture of responsibility within the Brigade’s transport unit.

The course, inaugurated on October 28, 2024, is part of the Nigerian Army’s ongoing efforts to update its training doctrine.

In his remarks, the Executive Governor of Taraba State, Dr. Agbu Kefas, commended the Army’s efforts in reducing insecurity in Taraba State from 95% to a single digit.

Represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Barr. Timothy Gebon Kataps, the Governor, said the state government has donated 110 vehicles to security agencies and refurbished 89 service vehicles.

Earlier, the Commander 6 Brigade/ Sector 3 Operation WHIRL STROKE (OPWS), Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa highlighted that the 2-week training focuses on basic driving ethics, practical driving in various weather conditions and terrain, and updating participants’ knowledge.

He noted that 60 participants from units under the Brigade, other security agencies, and the Taraba Government House are attending the training.
“This retraining course is part of our ongoing commitment to safety and excellence. By equipping skills, we are also increasing the reliability and effectiveness of our operations,” he stated.

Brigadier General Uwa emphasized the course’s significance in enhancing operational efficiency and protecting lives.
He thanked the Taraba State Government and other security agencies for their support and appreciated the Federal Road Safety Corps Jalingo for partnering with the Brigade to deliver the training.
