The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Yobe State Council, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for appointing Major General Olufemi Olatubosun Oluyede as the Acting Chief of Army Staff (COAS).
Chairman of the NUJ, Yobe State Council, Comrade Rajab Ismail Mohammed, made the commendation in a press statement issued to journalists on Sunday, November 3, 2024, in Damaturu, Yobe State Capital.
Comrade Rajab highlighted General Oluyede’s participation in several operations in the North East theatre, particularly his leadership as Commander of the 27 Task Force Brigade, Buni Gari, and Commander, Sector 2 Joint Task Force, North East Operation HADIN KAI.
He noted that under his command, General Oluyede successfully dismantled terrorists’ enclaves and logistic bases, restoring peace in various communities, including Ajigin, Damboa, Azur/Multe/Forfor, Talala, and Bulabulin Mangozam.
The NUJ Chairman also praised General Oluyede’s excellent civil-military relationship with locals, traditional rulers, non-governmental organizations, civil society organizations, and journalists. This, he described as a “master stroke” that endeared General Oluyede to the people of Yobe State and the North East communities.
Comrade Rajab expressed gratitude to President Tinubu for making the right choice in appointing Major General Olufemi Oluyede as the Acting Chief of Army Staff.
