The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has dealt launched a successful operations against terrorist groups threatening power restoration efforts in Kaduna and neighbouring states.
According to Air Commodore Olusola Akinboyewa, Director Public Relations and Information, NAF, said on November 1, 2024, the NAF launched a series of air interdiction operations targeting terrorist positions in the Alawa Forest, Shiroro Local Government Area of Niger State.
This strategic move aimed to secure power infrastructure and ensure uninterrupted progress in restoring electricity to affected areas in Kaduna and neighbouring states.
He noted that air strikes followed a series of Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (intelligence reports) confirming the presence of terrorist fighters converging to disrupt power restoration. NAF crews observed and engaged the terrorists, neutralizing several fighters and their logistics with precise firepower.
The DOPRI added that the NAF has intensified armed reconnaissance along critical power lines from Shiroro Lake to Damba, maintaining airspace dominance to prevent potential terrorist interference.
This sustained mission, according to him, underscores the NAF’s commitment to collaborating with other security agencies in protecting vital infrastructure and ensuring the swift restoration of essential services for Kaduna and neighbouring states.
