The Nigerian Army School of Public Relations and Information (NASPRI) has partnered with the African Council for Communication Education (ACCE) Nigeria Chapter to host a 3-day capacity building conference for students of the Advanced Public Relations Officers Course.
The conference, which began on November 13, 2024, at Baze University Abuja, focuses on crisis communication, narratives, and messaging.
In his remarks, Prof. Abdullahi Saleh Bashir, President of ACCE Nigeria Chapter, highlighted the organization’s role as a premier association for media scholars, professionals, and educators in Nigeria and Africa.
With branches across the continent and headquarters in Nairobi, Kenya, the President said ACCE brings together experts to discuss communication education, information technology, crisis communication, and research.
He commended NASPRI for participating in the conference, noting that it aims to enhance students’ practical knowledge and experience in crisis communication, fact-checking, and messaging.
In his goodwill message, Lt Col Adamu Ngulde, Commandant of NASPRI, expressed gratitude for ACCE’s collaboration and emphasized the school’s commitment to partnering with stakeholders to provide opportunities for students to enhance their skills.
The conference had in attendance the renowned communication scholars, including Prof. Chinyere Stella Okunna, the first female professor of Mass Communication in Nigeria.
Enugu Reporters noted that the partnership between the NASPRI and ACCE underscores NASPRI’s dedication to developing effective communication skills in the military and beyond. Also, NASPRI’s leveraging ACCE’s expertise would no doubt equip its students with the tools to navigate complex communication challenges.
