The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has intensified its aggressive air interdiction campaign, Operation FARAUTAR MUJIYA, aimed at eradicating bandit threats in Northwestern Nigeria.
Air Commodore Olusola Akinboyewa Director Public Relations and Information NAF, in a statement said, the Air Component of Operation FANSAN YAMMA on November 15, 2024 executed further air interdiction missions in Zamfara State, resulting in the elimination of numerous bandits, including key loyalists of notorious bandit leaders Dan-Isuhu and Dogo Sule.
He said the airstrikes targeted a large assembly of bandits in Babban Kauye village, Tsafe Local Government Area, where intelligence sources indicated the criminals were planning coordinated attacks against military personnel or civilians.
The NAF’s swift response, according to him inflicted significant casualties on the bandits, with reports confirming the elimination of high-ranking members.
Recall that, Tsafe Local Government Area has long been plagued by bandit activities, with factions loyal to Dan-Isuhu and Dogo Sule orchestrating violent assaults on local communities, security forces, and vital infrastructure.
Remote settlements like Babban Kauye have served as strategic safe havens for these groups.
The Director noted that the latest airstrikes demonstrate the NAF’s robust support for the Theatre Command of Operation FANSAN YAMMA, aligning with broader efforts to dismantle and degrade bandit networks, disrupt planned attacks, and restore peace and stability to the Northwest.
He assured that NAF remains resolute in its mission, collaborating with sister Services and security agencies to secure the region and the nation, eliminating threats posed by terrorists, bandits, and other criminal elements.
