The Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) yesterday honoured exceptional engineers, including the Director General Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria (DICON), Major General Aniedi Effiong Edet, and 210 others with prestigious Fellowship Awards.
Major Haruna Mohammed Sani stated in a statement on Tuesday that this recognition acknowledges their innovative leadership, exceptional expertise, and dedication to engineering excellence.
The awards ceremony, held at the Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry, featured a call to action from Special Guest of Honour Engr Victor Bandele FNSE, Deputy Managing Director, Deepwater Asset Total Energies EP Nigeria Limited, urging the awardees to leverage their expertise to drive infrastructure and economic growth in Nigeria.
He congratulated the conferees for their exceptional display of extraordinary prowess in the engineering profession noting that their conferments were a testament to their immense contributions in the field.
While conferring the awardees, the NSE President, Engr Margaret Oguntala emphasized the importance of upholding professionalism and ethics, serving as role models for the next generation of engineers.
The event highlighted the significance of engineering expertise in national development, with awardees encouraged to contribute to key projects such as infrastructure development and economic growth.
The NSE also launched the Nigerian Engineer Magazine, focusing on “Professional Ethics in Engineering Practice.”
Major General Aniedi Effiong Edet, on behalf of the awardees, thanked the Institute for finding them worthy of the award, adding that the gesture was a testament to their innovative leadership and contributions to Research and Development.
According to the statement, over 211 beneficiaries, including senior military officers including Major General Babatunde Alaya, Commander Command Engineering Depot Kaduna, and Brigadier General Moyosore Akin-Ojo, Commander 41 Engineers Brigade 1 Division Nigerian Army Kaduna, among others, received the Fellowship Honours award.
