The Enugu state Governor, His Excellency Dr. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi on Friday alongside a team of engineers from the High Way Department of the Federal Ministry of works and Housing led by Chief Engr. S.T. Oluwadun, including the state project manager of the Nigerian Erosion and Watershed Management Project (NEWMAP) Barr. Vincent Obetta ,visited Obinofia , a Community in Ezeagu Local Government Area of the state to inspect the Ozoechine Federal road which is currently abandoned due to insufficient fund.
The group was received by the Ezeagu local government Chairman, Hon. Chukwudi Ani, the president general of the town union and the immediate past council chairman, Hon. Fred Chukwudi Ezinwa, Traditional rulers, the clergy and numerous sons and daughters of Obinofia.
According to Engr. Oluwadun , the federal government stopped construction on the road in 2013 as a result of insufficient fund.
Similarly, Barr. Obetta recalled that Governor Ugwuanyi on March 16 2019 commissioned NEWMAP to carry out their assessment on the road, though the agency later realized it was a federal project. He appealed to the state government to relate with the government for quick ntervention.
Reacting to this , governor Ugwuanyi promised to either meet with the federal government for possible funding of the project or embark on remedial approach to during the dry season and maintained that his administration will never abandon the people of Obinofia.
He also approve five million naira fund to assist the community in equipping their health center which they complained is poorly equipped.
