The Nigerian Army (NA) has reaffirmed its commitment to interagency collaboration as a crucial strategy for enhancing security in the Niger Delta Region.

This emphasis was made by Major General Jamal Abdussalam, General Officer Commanding (GOC) 6 Division, NA, during a courtesy visit by the newly posted Commissioner of Police, Rivers State Police Command, CP Mustapha Mohammed Bala, to the 6 Division Headquarters in Port Harcourt Barracks on Tuesday.

According to the Acting Deputy Director of 6 Division Army Public Relations, Lieutenant Colonel Danjuma Jonah Danjuma, in a statement, the collaboration will enable security agencies to navigate the complex operating environment in the region.

Major General Abdussalam stressed that effective collaboration among security agencies is critical in navigating the complex operating environment in the region.

He noted that the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) is a vital partner to the Nigerian Army, highlighting that the failure of one agency is essentially the failure of all.

He said the collaboration is in line with the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja’s command philosophy, which emphasizes joint operations. This approach is expected to enhance the capacity of security agencies to work together effectively, promoting conflict resolution and joint operations.

The GOC urged security agencies to continue synergizing and cooperating with the NPF to achieve their common goal of maintaining peace and security.

Earlier, the CP Mustapha Mohammed Bala expressed gratitude for the GOC’s support and acknowledged the importance of interagency collaboration in achieving parity and security in Rivers State.

He pledged effective collaboration with the Nigerian Army, recognizing the significance of cooperation in addressing the security challenges in the region.

The visit underscores the determination of security agencies to foster a culture of collaboration, ensuring a safer and more stable environment for citizens in the Niger Delta Region.
