The Nigerian military has recorded significant successes in its ongoing operations against terrorism and insecurity across the country, neutralizing hundreds of terrorists, rescuing dozens of hostages, and recovering substantial caches of arms and ammunition.
According to a statement released by Major General Edward Buba, Director Defence Media Operations, the military’s various operations – including HADIN KAI, SAFE HAVEN, WHIRL STROKE, HADARIN DAJI, WHIRL PUNCH, DELTA SAFE, and UDO KA – have yielded impressive results.
He said, cumulatively, the operations carried across the country have eliminated 233 terrorists, rescued 151 hostages and captured 261 suspected criminals, including the recoveries of millions of litres of stolen crude oil products in the latest operations.
In the North East, Operation HADIN KAI has eliminated 103 terrorists, arrested 64 suspects, and rescued 15 kidnapped hostages. Troops also recovered 51 AK47 rifles, 2 PKT guns, and other ammunition.
He said in the North Central, Operation SAFE HAVEN troops eliminated 14 violent extremists, arrested 25 persons, and rescued 26 kidnapped hostages. Meanwhile, troops of Operation WHIRL STROKE eliminated four terrorists, arrested 27 violent extremists, and rescued 14 kidnapped hostages.
In the North West , General Buba said there was also a significant successes, with troops of Operation HADARIN DAJI eliminating 51 terrorists, arresting 55 persons, and rescuing 81 kidnapped hostages. Also troops of Operation WHIRL PUNCH arrested 32 suspects and rescued 3 kidnapped hostages.
In the South South, the Director said troops of Operation DELTA SAFE recovered 1,090,135 litres of stolen crude oil and 873,510 litres of illegally refined AGO, destroyed 49 crude oil cooking ovens, and arrested 39 suspected oil thieves and violent extremists.
The South East has also seen progress, with troops of Operation Udo Ka killing 15 terrorists, arresting 20 violent extremists, and rescuing eight kidnapped hostages.
Enugu Reporters gathered that these successes demonstrate the military’s commitment to restoring peace and security across Nigeria.
“The Nigerian military remains resolute in its determination to protect the nation and its citizens from internal and external threats,” Major General Buba said. “We will continue to work tirelessly to ensure the safety and security of all Nigerians.”
