The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has dealt a significant blow to terrorists in Shiroro, Niger State, destroying the residence and arms depot of notorious kingpin Mallam Saleh, a loyalist of Dogo Gide, on November 16, 2024.

This was revealed to the newsmen by the Director Public Relations and Information, NAF, Air Commodore Olusola Akinboyewa on Sunday.

According to the statement, this successful airstrike was part of Operation FANSAN YAMMA, which aimed to dismantle Saleh’s operations that had long plagued vulnerable communities in Shiroro through attacks, abductions, and extortion.

The NAF aircraft targeted terrorists on motorcycles in the Palele area, unleashing devastating strikes that obliterated the weapons cache and crippled Saleh’s capabilities.

He said a secondary explosion confirmed the destruction of the munitions, dealing a crushing blow to the terrorists.

This operation is part of the NAF’s logistics strangulation strategy to decimate terrorist strongholds and restore peace to the region. Collaborating with surface forces, the NAF will maintain dominance through constant patrols, situational awareness, and targeted interdictions.

The impact of this mission will be significant, degrading the terrorists’ operational capabilities and protecting innocent lives. Reports indicate that dozens of terrorists were neutralized in the Shiroro Local Government Area of Niger.

It’s worth noting that this isn’t the first time the NAF has conducted successful airstrikes in Shiroro. Earlier, on September 11, 2024, the NAF launched airstrikes that destroyed dozens of terrorists in the Bassa area as part of Operation WHIRL PUNCH .

He noted that the continued efforts by the NAF demonstrate the military’s resolve to eliminate insurgency and restore peace in affected areas.
