The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt Gen.Tukur Buratai has visited a newly constructed and well equipped an ultra-modern facility known as ‘Army Command and NAOWA Hospital’, situated in Mambilla Barrack, Asokoro, Abuja.
The hospital which has state of the art facilities has the following, – eye clinic, ante-natal, post-natal, obstetrics, specialist clinics, pediatrics, dental, surgery, infernal medicine, and gynecology with 80 capacity of bedding for patients.
The hospital also has a children clinic, accident and Emergency department, pharmacy, a world standard laboratory equipments capable of haemotology, clinical chemistry microbiology, maternity and public health centres among others.
Touring round the facility alongside with the Medical Director, and other top military officers, Gen. Tukur Buratai hinted that the facility will contribute to the health sector in the country.
He therefore commended the
NAOWA President, Mrs Umma-Kalsum Tukur Buratai, the management and Staff of the hospital for the job well done.
In his remarks, the Chief Medical Director (CMD)of the Hospital, Major General Ikechukwu Okeke (rtd) said “the facility will provide General Outpatient Consultation, Paediatrics and Dental services among others.
“It is not a coincidence that this facility is coming on stream at this time when the corona virus is ravaging the world. Since we find ourselves in this situation, more efforts will be made to put the hospital in a better position to be part of the national response plan”.
“Health education and necessary precautionary measures will be put in place to protect our staff and patients while fighting this scourge”. Okeke explained.
CMD also explained that, the hospital can give medical services not just to the military personnel and their families but the generality of Nigerians who may sought for medical support in their facilities.
“Civilian clients who wish To use the hospital as their corporate or individual care provider are also welcome”. He affirmed.
The CMD further expressed his readiness to working closely with the National Centre for Disease and Control (NCDC) to ensuring the necessary precautionary measures fir the prevention and care of COVID 19 are strictly followed.
The hospital which is an initiative of NAOWA’s President NAOWA Mrs Umma-Kalsum Tukur Buratai, is a secondary healthcare facility.
It has the following, -special care babies’ management, intensive care management and radio-diagnostic services.
