The Chief of Army Staff Lt Gen TY Burutai has launched the Nigerian Army Cyber warfare Operations Centre at the Nigerian Army Headquarters ,Abuja with full complements of his principal staff officers in attendance alongside other senior officers of the Army,the press and other invited guests.
The historic occasion marked the Nigerian Army’s constant improvement in the use of kinetic and non kinetic approach in the fight against insurgency and insurgents,radicalization of youths, smear campaign against the Nigerian Army’s reputation and ending of identity theft and Dark Web Operations by miscreants and enemies of the State.
The Chief of the novel Nigerian Army Cyber War fare Centre Brigadier General Thomas Unokhua was on hand to brief the Chief of Army Staff Lt Gen TY Burutai and other principal staff officers in Chief of Civil Military Affairs Maj Gen Nuhu Angbazo on the dire benefits of the Centre which is designed to protect the Nigerian Army’s personnel data, reputation against fake news,ending identity theft of Senior Army Officers and gathering of relevant intelligence in carrying out their Constitutional duties professionally.
Brigadier General Thomas Unokhua said the setting up of the centre was very timely and strategic by the COAS, in his response the Chief of Army Staff Lt Gen TY Burutai hailed the efforts of the Cyber Warfare Operations Centre for their zeal and commitment towards a vibrant Cyber Operation Centre that will counter any ugly development that will bring about the 2011 Arab Spring Uprising in Northern Africa.He also emphasized the need to tackle the rising trend of fake news and Cyber attacks on the Nigerian Army and Nation via the 5th Domain.
The COAS in company of his formidable principal staff officers listened with rapt attention while the Chief of the Army Cyber Warfare Operation Centre Brigadier General Thomas Unokhua took the entire gathering through the strategic processes of the Operations in the Cyber Warfare Centre to the admiration of Lt Gen TY Burutai and his top brass of the Army.
The Occasion drew to a close with the a group photography taken by the entire Army chiefs and the Chief of Army Staff Lt Gen TY Burutai who then proceeded for refreshment to celebrate the historic 15th October 2018 launch of Africa’s first Cyber Army Warfare Centre in Africa.
