The Nigerian Army has embarked on an unprecedented humanitarian journey, executing over 300 intervention projects across the six geopolitical zones of Nigeria.
The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, made this disclosure on Wednesday in Lutheran Primary School,Nung Udoe in Ibesiokpo Austin Local Government Area, Akwa Ibom State, whilst commissioning projects said the gesture was meant to showcase the NA’s commitment to winning hearts and minds.
Director Army Public Relations, Major General Onyema Nwachukwu in a statement revealed that the projects, initiated by the COAS, include hospitals, schools, community town halls, boreholes, roads, and amenities, supporting government efforts and enhancing socio-cultural well-being.
The Army Chief noted that “the Nigerian Army has so far undertaken over three hundred intervention projects across the six geopolitical zones of the country,” to give succour to the people in support of government efforts.
He said the initiative is part of the COAS’ special intervention Civil-Military cooperation projects, aimed at supporting communities of the NA’s senior officers who have risen to the rank of Major General through their dedication.
He expressed optimism that the projects will impact positively the locals in the community and enhance their socio-cultural well-being
General Lagbaja commended Major General Solomon Udounwa (Rtd) for his dedication and appreciated Governor Umo Bassey Eno and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for their support.
Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, congratulated the COAS and Project Executor, emphasizing the importance of collaboration for a secure and prosperous society.
“The implementation of this venture reflects our collective vision for a more secure, prosperous and harmonious society,” he added.
Governor Umoh Eno lauded the military-government partnership, while Project Executor Maj Gen Udounwa (Rtd) thanked the NA for the initiative.
The event featured traditional chieftancy titles and scholarship awards, solidifying the NA’s commitment to community development.
